Since my first spank material as a kid was Playgirl magazines I snuck out of my sister’s house, this site literally made me feel like a kid again. And can I just say, wow. When you review porn sites for a living, you see it all, from the extremely well-done to the nightmares that haven’t been freshened up or updated since AOL charged by the hour. But then you visit a site like Playgirl and you see the difference when a site has real money and manpower behind it, rather than being one person’s vision or pet project. First of all, the little guys out there can’t usually persuade or pay enough to get guys like this to take their clothes off.

The men here will really illustrate the difference between “naked guys” and “models”. These are definitely the model type, showing off physical perfection in all its forms. No extremes here—no waif-like twinks, no burly bears, no one too old or too young. Here we have men in their prime, beautifully tanned and toned, muscled without being overly so, hung but not freakishly huge. And, unlike in those magazines I kept folded up in the bottom of that fishing tackle box I never used, these men get to actually sport hardons. Beautiful hardons.

The other thing about sites like this is that the common guy doesn’t have access to the equipment, talent, or locations to crank out pictures and videos like this. Beautifully lit and shot, and shot on film rather than video, everything here has that slightly fuzzy Barbara-Walters-closeup quality that says no expense was spared. Your membership here gets you gallery after gallery of pictures of the guys, as well as videos of the guys jerking off and some guy/girl couple videos. In addition, you get access to the world of Playgirl Magazine, so you can browse through online versions of the magazine and get all the non-naked-guy content such as aricles and interviews. You also get access to other magazines, such as Crown Jewels and Well-Hung Hunks, erotic stores, music reviews, personals, wallpaper downloads, and, if you’re a PC user, Playgirltv.

The site is updated frequently, but not all of the updates show you at a glance who is in the update. There’s a lot of content here, and it’s extremely high-quality stuff. So, why not a 5 out of 5? I’m not sure…I guess all porn is subjective, and I guess it’s just me, but I’m a guy, and I like it when porn makes you feel a little…dirty. This site is first-class all the way, which will definitely appeal to some, but I found it all to be a little too well-scrubbed and lacking in soul. The tag lines promise down-and-dirty action, but it’s all very clean and in the best of taste. This is, after all, Playgirl, and they do gear their content toward women. Women and men tend to get off on different stimuli, so maybe that’s what left me a little cold. The look and feel and set up of the site are all on the sensual and seductive end of the spectrum, while most guys prefer the let’s-get-it-on end. Different tastes, like I said. However, there is a ton of excellent content here, and if you’re logging on to get off, you won’t be disappointed.

Sorry so say, I can’t tell you yet if the videos here are DRM-free or not. DRMs aren’t mentioned anywhere on the site, and I would hope they wouldn’t hide something so important, but my review membership hasn’t lapsed yet. When it does, if my videos are no longer accessible, I’ll know. In the meantime, you can stream or download the videos with Windows Media or Quicktime, so kudos there. However, one feature the site touts is Playgirl TV, and it’s completely unavailable to Mac users like me. The low rating isn’t out of bitterness, it’s due to the site shutting out a significant and growing segment of potential subscribers. The site obviously has had money spent on it…spend some on making it fully accessible to everyone.

How to find fault with a site as sheerly beautiful as this? Elegant, tasteful, with restrained colors and beautiful accents, highlighted by gorgeous pictures, I felt like I needed to put on a smoking jacket just to log in. Of course you get no pop-ups or flashy banner ads here…it’s Playgirl, not the bush leagues.

Again, the money behind this site really shows. Some talented people designed this site. All navigation on this site is highly intuitive, and helpful pointers and menu bars abound to show you where you are, where you were, and where you can go. Each page is thoughtfully laid out, and it all seems designed so that the men are front and center and always easy to get to. And isn’t that the way it should be?

Tough call here. I’m a big fan of free or cheap trial periods, and this site does not offer one at all. However, an informative free tour can do an awful lot of what a trial membership would do, and a good tour leaves you wanting more so that you spring for the membership. That’s the case here, as the tour pretty much tells you everything you’re getting. Heck, if you’ve ever seen an issue of Playgirl on a newsstand you know what you’re getting here…hot men, and a lot of content that is pretty much geared to women. So the site gives you three options: $19.95/month, recurring, or two non-recurring options of $59.95/6 months or $99.95/year. Simple, and all payments are secure. For the amount and quality of the content here, $19.95 is a bargain.

Don’t get me wrong…this is a fantastic site. You get fantastic-looking men, and a ton of them, and you can see them in pictures or movies. You get access to Playgirl magazine’s other content, as well as the content of some other sites, and there are tons of extras packed in as well. All of that content is slickly packaged and easy to navigate, and it comes at a very low price. Perhaps if a girl reviewed the site she would have warmed to it more, but I’m a guy, and I don’t respond as strongly to videos called “Incandescent Love” as I would to, say, “Watch This Hot Chick Get Banged.” I’m the first to admit, this is a high-class site, and I’m more of a low-class guy. But for those of you who insist on highest-quality, this site gets my highest recommendation.
